Ferrari head into their residence Italian GP as favourites for a Monza win because 2010.
But encouraged by their own race-day functionality at similarly high-speed Spa Sunday, Mercedes are not ruling out stretching their 100 per cent winning run at the Temple of pace as the dawn of this in 2014 of F1.

Ferrari are also currently introducing their engine update onto the automobiles for this weekend of Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.
“The best way to get ready for Monza would have been to win races before not only Spa. However, as Monza is among the most power sensitive circuits as well as our package is competitive at Spa, we might expect to become more aggressive in Monza as well, no doubt,” said team boss Mattia Binotto.
“There are a few low downforce packages, some are raced in Spa and others prepared for Monza, so there is a question marker. But our car is certainly aggressive on the straights.”
It is that prodigious functionality that Mercedes are concerned about heading on F1 circuit.
Lewis Hamilton said after Sunday’s race at Spa:”It’s all straights, so Ferrari… it’s going to be a joyful weekend to Ferrari, probably in that regard.
“I meanthis weekend [in Spa], I think only in qualifying we’re decreasing over a second a lap. There’s not too much me and Valtteri could do in that instance and there’s not a great deal of corners to grab up that.
“So, it will be fascinating. Within the upcoming few days we’ve got to make some improvements to our speed . I really don’t know if that’s possible – but if anyone can do itit’s our group.”
But can Mercedes repeat 2018’s turnaround?
Having gone eight attempts and counting with no success in the home, with rivals Mercedes winning on F1 five visits, Ferrari are more desperate to win the Italian GP to get a record-extending 20th to present their passionate’Tifosi’ fans trigger for celebration.
As Vettel, yet to win for Ferrari at Monza in four different tries, commented:”I believe we got closer and closer in the past years, but we were missing that final step.”
The absence of a’final step’ was no more obvious than at Monza this past year.
Locking out front row, polesitter Kimi Raikkonen and Vettel were beaten by Hamilton into the race victory. Whilst Raikkonen was later overtaken from the Mercedes driver after being overtaken by Hamilton vettel spun.
Mercedes manager Toto Wolff claims that they will not suddenly prove a match to Ferrari energy, but does assume the more race distance could again provide some chances close to overhauling Leclerc in Spa after Hamilton came.
“I really don’t believe we can find 15kph in the following five days!” said Wolff. ” [With] no more DRS. But it is what is, without a criticism.
“We have only got to prepare yourself the most effective potential for Monza and know that it is not a path that will satisfy us and will favour Ferrari, but we have got to get the best possible job.
“On the Sunday we are looking much nearer, even on the circuits, so we I still think we need to give everything we need to finally win the race Monza.”
Valtteri Bottas, who finished third a year ago, added:”Last year they had been fast as well but we managed to make their life quite difficult. I think that is where we got booed on everything and the podium.
“We try to do the exact same again.”
